What Is Denver's Early Childhood Council?

Our vision is that Denver is a community where the diverse needs of all young children and their families are supported. Our mission is to elevate the early childhood field through innovative and inclusive leadership, services, and solutions. The Council was created in 1992 to manage the quality improvements in Denver’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) centers. Colorado’s Early Childhood Councils are a legislative expansion (HB06-1062) of the Consolidated Child Care Pilots. In 2011, the Council transitioned to a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. We work with hundreds of early learning/child care providers, governmental agencies, service providers, and policy advocates. Our systems building goals are to increase: Early Learning Quality: Strengthen our Early Learning Quality Initiatives to ensure that our infants, toddlers and young children have access to high quality early education experiences. Child Health Collaboration: Establish a comprehensive Child Health Initiative to deepen our impact and systems-building work in physical, social-emotional and oral health for young children. Parent and Family Engagement: Develop a Parent & Family Engagement Initiative that expands our connections to and work with programs focused on strengthening families.
