What Is International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF)?

The International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) creates borderless solidarity among transport workers in every corner the globe. We support 670 affiliate trade unions to passionately campaign for transport workers rights, equality, and justice, in 140 countries. We are 19.7 million voices; We stand together; We are ITF. The International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), founded in 1896, is one of nine Global Union Federations (GUF), which was founded to build transport worker's power on a local, regional and global level. Through understanding transport workers and the challenges that they face, the ITF passionately drives positive changes in the transport industry and for workers rights. As a democratic and affiliate-led federation, the ITF maintains a coherent, credible and value-based voice. This allows the ITF to identify future challenges, as well as reacting to economic, geographic, institutional, political, and societal shifts. We will help transport workers to build power by accomplishing these three things: Innovative campaigning: Working with our affiliates to provide a grassroots approach to guiding each transport sector through the unique challenges that transport workers face, including growing income inequality, the erosion of union rights, automation of trade, and digitalisation. Global and regional policy: Positioning ourselves as the credible global voice of transport workers. Advocating transport workers rights, promoting freedom of association, the right to organise and collectively bargain, and denouncing inequality on an institutional and national level. Growing and activating membership: Promoting the value of trade unionism to underrepresented groups, including young transport workers and women transport workers, as well as increasing union membership in all transport sectors around the globe.
