What Is Porter Systems?

Porter Systems offers our technical teams the most modern and capable tools for design, analysis, prototype and testing to support robust solutions with rapid time to market. Porter has a legacy of product innovation that has lead to over 70 active product patents. Porter has also implemented Team Center Engineering PLM software giving us a leading edge in the industry. Porter Systems manufacturing employs state of the art equipment in the fabrication, assembly of products and monitoring of processes at the Westfield, Indiana plant. Our commitment to continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, process monitoring and preventative maintenance programs ensures that our products meet and exceed automotive customer’s expectations. P.L. Porter pioneered the first hydraulic seat recliners for the aviation industry in 1947. Over the years, product applications spread into the furniture, medical seating and industrial markets. In 1977, Porter entered the automotive market with infinitely adjustable mechanical seat recliners in General Motors full-size car lines. Since then, Porter has extended the application of Porter technology to over thirty different vehicle platforms with most major automotive manufacturers around the world. In 1999 the assets of P.L. Porter Automotive Co. were acquired by Middlemarket Capital Management Company and were combined with Kadee Metalfab LLC to form Porter Group LLC. This combination of mechanical innovation and manufacturing strength allows Porter Group to design and manufacture more comprehensive solutions for adjustment and structural systems. In 2014 Porter was acquired by Pangeo Corporation. The acquisition allows for vertical integration with castings, injection molding, stampings, precision turning, machining and coating with LCC capability.
