What Is Waves?

In 1973, a group of citizens in Fairview, Tennessee, met to discuss the needs of individuals in their community with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Determined to make waves on behalf of the individuals they wanted to serve, the group identified programs and services needed, and Waves, Inc. began. Today, there are close to 100 full-time and part-time employees of Waves. A broad range of services and supports are provided to over 150 children and adults in Williamson County each year through our Early Learning, Adult Services, and Office Recycling Programs. Programs include: The Early Learning Program provides play-based early learning, developmental assessment, and treatment protocols for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. The Adult Day Programs in Fairview and Franklin, both center-based and community transitions based, serve more than 50 individuals every weekday. The Adult Residential Program, which includes a Semi-independent Living Program, operates eight homes and four apartments in Fairview and Franklin and currently provides around-the-clock support and services for 27 individuals. The Employment Program includes vocational training, job placement, and job follow-along and support. The Office Recycling Program gives full-time employment to two individuals with disabilities and provides recycling pick-up for more than 90 businesses in Franklin, Cool Springs, and Brentwood.
