What Is King Ranch Institute for Ranch Management?

As the only Master of Science in Ranch Management program in the world, we educate the next generation of leaders in the ranching industry who will progressively manage our country’s rangeland and wildlife resources, produce livestock as part of our nation’s food supply, and positively influence the lives of people on ranches and in ranching communities. Our students are trained using a multi-disciplinary, systems approach to ranch management. We also offer rancher learning opportunities through lectureships and symposia that provide the highest quality practical learning events to stakeholders in the industry. In keeping with the long history of leadership and philanthropy of King Ranch—one of the birthplaces of the American ranching industry—the King Ranch family wished to give back to the ranching community in celebration of its 150th Anniversary in 2003. Their wish was to ensure that the ranching heritage stay alive, and so the King Ranch® Institute for Ranch Management was created and endowed by King Ranch family and friends in collaboration with Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
